About Me

My name is Şirin Hewitt (pronounced Shirin) and I am a Conscious Parenting Coach (visit coaching for more info), unschooling mother, author, social activist, a Holistic Life Coach and co-founder of Innate Living. I currently live in the UK with my wonderful husband and son. I work with clients all over the world to support and empower them with their parenting and personal development journey.

I am a qualified Breastfeeding Peer Supporter, I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Sociology, and before becoming a coach I worked for several charities and organisations offering various degrees of support to refugees, asylum seekers, detainees, foreign national prisoners, students and social workers. I have a Life Coaching Diploma and have completed several coaching and personal development courses by Dr Gabor Maté, Preston Smiles, Alison Armstrong and The Gottman Institute.

I am also inspired by Authors and Parenting Coaches L.R.Knost, Dr Laura Markham, Alfie Kohn, Sarah Ockwell-Smith, The Parenting Junkie and many more. Yet my biggest education has come from being a mother to an amazing toddler; who has positively changed my world and challenges me daily to break my own cycles and strive to be the best that I can be.

I initially decided to write about parenting after my personal experiences as a first-time mother. I became frustrated at the lack of support, decent information and guidance available to parents. I was disappointed to realise that the attitudes towards parenting (especially in Western Societies) have shifted so far from our natural, evolutionary and innate ways; which I believe is the root of all the problems we are experiencing in our current world. I was also saddened to realise that the subject of parenting has become an extremely sensitive one, with people avoiding an open and honest dialogue, at the risk of parents feeling ‘judged’ and ‘shamed’. So, I began reading and researching to find out where we went wrong. This made me even more passionate about the subject, which is how I began my blog.

Since starting my blog, I have delved massively into my own journey of self-reflection and self-development. This has in a huge way shifted my attitude towards myself, other people and the world we live in. I have shifted in my feelings of anger and frustration, to compassion and wanting to understand why society has become so disconnected and reacting from fear. This has inspired me even more to share my own experiences and knowledge with the world; in order to inform and empower people to make it a better and more loving place.

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” – Albert Einstein

You may here this often… but there truly is nothing else in this world that will test and teach you to question and look at yourself quite like becoming a parent! Due to not wanting to continue the cycles of my own childhood wounds (and EVERYONE has them, just look up Gabor Mate’s work!), I have embraced the opportunity of allowing my child to teach me how to be a better person and parent. This has added a new dimension to my passion and drive for guiding and supporting others and challenging the status quo. I have realised that my soul’s purpose is to empower parents to dig deep, lean into and trust their intuition, and find their higher self. Having a life coach had such a huge positive impact on me, my life and my family, that I instantly knew I wanted to become a coach myself and support people in the best way that I can.
